A girl named Frances grows up in the Interlake region of Manitoba (between Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba) where many people of Icelandic descent settled. She finds an old journal, in Icelandic, of her ancestors, and she discovers how her family came over from Iceland to Manitoba. An interesting book with a sympathetic main character.
