It is one man's journey through Ireland on the back of an ass. It was slow going, but he experienced the Irish people and the countryside in a very unique way. The author, an American visiting Irish relatives, literally took up the challenge that was made to him by some comrades at the pub in Kilroosky, county Roscommon. He traveled all along the Irish coast starting from county Roscommon through the following counties: Galway, Clare, Limerick, Kerry, Cork, Waterford, Wicklow, Dublin, Louth, Meath, Armagh, Down, Antrim, Londonderry, Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Leitrim and back to Roscommon. He details the many fine encounters he had with the Irish people who welcomed him and his donkey to stay at their homes and stables, or have meals at their pubs or even just to sit out the weather. The book is well written and richly filled with good Irish humor.
